St. Thomas Aquinas

St. Thomas Aquinas says: “Praise be to Jesus.”

St. Thomas comes and for the first time I notice all the buttons down the front of his cassock. He says: “Look at all these buttons your poor St. Thomas had to fasten every day. Yet, none of these were without eternal value, for I fastened each one with love for God and neighbor in my heart. Had I looked upon each one as a mundane chore, they would have been wasted.”

“This is how to have the heart of a little child. Always carry the love of God in the center of your heart. Do everything, say everything, think everything with this love. A child always trusts that his parents will make everything right. So the one who seeks childlike holiness must trust that the Will of God will bring good from every situation.”

“The child takes joy from little things–a flower, a warm day–even a breeze to carry a kite. The childlike soul sees all the little things that God gives freely and rejoices in them.”

“So you see, even buttons can add to your eternal happiness and carry you deeper into the Chambers of the United Hearts. Pray for the light to see small ways to increase in childlike holiness.”
