St. Thomas Aquinas

St. Thomas Aquinas says: “Praise be to Jesus.”

“I come once again to address the subject of discernment. Discernment is so vital in living in the Truth. These days, Truth is so under attack and even disregarded to suit personal agendas. Too often rash judgment masquerades as Truth. Facts are not verified, but accepted at face value. Every untruth leads to more confusion.”

“This is why false discernment – discernment not based upon Truth – is like a Trojan Horse. It appears to be good but under the surface it shields destruction. True discernment is a gift from God and not a reflection of the intellect. It does not arise from human reasoning, but from the Holy Spirit – the Spirit of Truth. Truth can only come into the heart that defines good apart from evil.”

“It is easy to be misled these days when false reputations and titles are so trusted and used to diffuse evil. Ask the Blessed Virgin to assist you in this elusive gift of true discernment.”

Read 2 Timothy 4:1-5+

Synopsis: Presbyters charged with preaching the Word of God must do so according to the sound doctrines of the Church. In dealing with those who turn away from the Truth and follow false doctrines, presbyters must be watchful in all things, discerning and rebuking those in error with all patience fulfilling their ministry of preaching.

I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus Who is to judge the living and the dead, and by His appearing and His Kingdom: preach the Word, be urgent in season and out of season, convince, rebuke, and exhort, be unfailing in patience and in teaching. For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own likings, and will turn away from listening to the Truth and wander into myths. As for you, always be steady, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.
